Jim Smith Jr. joined PCC as Director of Golf in 2006 following ten years as the General Manager and Director of Golf at Talamore at Oak Terrace Golf & County Club. Recognized as one of the leading PGA Professionals in the country, Jim has been honored with several prestigious awards, including the Philadelphia PGA Golf Professional of the Year; the Philadelphia PGA Bill Strausbaugh Award (twice); Philadelphia PGA Merchandiser of the Year; Golf World Top-100 Golf Shop; Philadelphia Magazine Top-25 Instructor; and more. Jim is one of just 50 professionals in the country to be a member of Callaway Golf’s Master Staff Professional program. Jim's leadership skills led to his spending ten years on the Executive Committee and Board of the Philadelphia PGA, including a two-year term as President. In his 20+ years as a PGA Professional, Jim has taken a special interest in mentoring and guiding his fellow golf professionals and co-workers to bigger and better opportunities. To date, Twenty-three of his former staff have moved on to various head professional, Director of Golf, Director of Outside Operations, and Director of Merchandising positions at places like Canoe Brook Country Club, Andover Country Club, Riverton County Club, St. David's Golf Club, Merion Golf Club, Whitemarsh Valley Country Club, Philadelphia Country Club, Union League Golf Club, Indian Valley Country Club, Talamore Golf Club, and more. Jim is a lifetime resident of Jenkintown, Pennsylvania and a member of the Jenkintown High School Hall of Fame. He graduated from Temple University with a degree in Finance & Economics after two years at Villanova University. Jim is involved with several charitable causes including The Breathing Room Foundation and the ALS Foundation. He has been married to his high-school sweetheart, Kathy, since 1991 and has three children - Justin & Courtney (twins), and Haley. Jim & Kathy spend their spare time tending to their three dogs (Chloe, Cabo, Dublin), arranging trips with members to great golf destinations all over the world, and spending time with family.
Dan Meersman joined PCC as Director of Grounds in 2009. In 2013 Dan helped PCC’s newly restored Wissahickon Course achieve GolfWeek’s Best U.S. Private Restoration. Following a year of play, the Wissahickon Course made the all-time largest jump back into the Top 100 Classic Courses in America moving from #130 to #32. Currently Wissahickon resides at #30 in the U.S. Top 100 Classic Courses. In 2010, during the bunker renovation of Militia Hill, Dan developed Matrix Bunker Liner. In 2012 Dan oversaw the complete restoration of PCC’s historic St. Martins Golf Course with Golf Course Architect Keith Foster. This scope included converting the fairways to zoysiagrass, performing in-house green expansions, bunker reconstruction, and installation of a new irrigation system. In 2012, Dan received TurfNet’s prestigious Superintendent of the Year Award (U.S.). In 2015 PCC hosted the PGA of America’s Professional National Championship. In 2016, during the PGA Tour Champions, Constellation Sr. Players Championship Wissahickon’s conditioning level held the winning score to +1 for the first time in the event’s thirty-year history. Dan comes from a long line of golf course superintendents. His grandfather, father, uncle, and brother all are / were golf course superintendents. Prior to PCC, Dan served as the Golf Course Superintendent at Victoria National Golf Club (Newburgh, IN; rated #21 in Golf Digest’s Top 100 in 2006). During his tenure, they hosted the 2007 USGA’s US Senior Amateur Championship, and the 2008 AJGA’s Rolex Tournament of Champions. His first Superintendent position was at Copper Hill Country Club (Flemington, NJ) at the age of 26. Dan served as Assistant Superintendent at Caves Valley Golf Club (Owings Mills, MD) from 1999-2004. During his time, Dan helped them prepare for the USGA’s 2002 U.S. Senior Open, AJGA’s 2004 Cannon Cup, and advance preparations for the 2005 Men’s NCAA Championships. Dan has a B.A. in Agronomy from Michigan State University. Prior to attending MSU, Dan earned an Associates Degree in Business Administration while playing two years of collegiate golf attending Kalamazoo Valley Community College. In high school, Dan captained his golf team to a state championship, and was All-State three consecutive years. Dan is committed to helping students and former assistants advance in the golf industry. Dan and PCC members have helped nine superintendents achieve their own superintendent’s positions in the last six years; fourteen in total. He has been married to his wife Carrie since 2002, and they have two children- Eliza and Ethan. Raised in the golf industry, Dan enjoys sharing great golf experiences with PCC members, and enjoys spending time with family and friends in Northern Michigan.
Chris is in his 4th year at PCC where he has been promoted to the Head Golf Professional at Militia Hill. Chris was born in Ocean Township, NJ and graduated from Clemson University’s PGM program in 2012. Chris’s past experience in the golf industry includes working at Deal Golf & CC, Baltusrol GC, Old Sandwich GC, and Ocean Reef Club.
Mike is in his 2nd year at PCC where he is now serving as the Head Golf Professional at Wissahickon. A graduate of the Methodist University PGM program, Mike has previously worked as an Assistant Golf Professional at Kinloch Golf Club, and Ocean Forest Golf Club. Mike resides in Conshohocken, and enjoys talking about all sports, competing in local tournaments, and playing golf all over the country at some of the greatest golf courses in America.
Mark graduated from The Indiana University of PA with a degree in Business Management. He lives in Media with his wife and two kids. Mark is also the coach of the Penn Women's Golf Team. When he is not on the lesson tee, Mark enjoys playing guitar and watching movies.
Courtney Cantwell started working in the Golf Pro Shop in early 2017 after making a cross-country move from California to Pennsylvania where she was born and raised. Previously, Courtney worked at Pelican Hill Resort and Monarch Beach Golf Links. She recieved her Bachelor's Degree from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising at Drexel University. In her spare time, Courtney enjoys watching the Flyers, traveling, and making jewelry.
Tony is the Head Golf Professional at our St. Martins golf course and has been with us at PCC for 12 years. You will often find Tony out giving lessons to kids, beginning golfers, or running tournaments contested at St. Martins. After High School, Tony joined the Marine Corps and currently lives in nearby Oreland with his wife Susan. He spends most of his free time fishing and boating.
Nathalie is in her first season at PCC and is joining us from Suzy Whaley Golf School. Originally from Connecticut, Nathalie grew up playing golf and absolutely loves to compete and teach, helping all levels of golfers learn. Nathalie played collegiate golf at The University of Delaware and is an aspiring LPGA tour player.
This will be Rusty’s first season with us at PCC. Originally from Lancaster, PA, Rusty was on the professional staff at Lancaster CC for the last 10 years. A graduate from Penn State University, Rusty is a very accomplished player, including winning the Haverford Trust Classic in 2014. Rusty currently resides in Abington, PA where he lives with his beautiful wife Lindsay, their daughter Mallory and is expecting a second child in late October.
Aaron is entering his 2nd year at PCC and has spent his last two winters working at Royal Poinciana Golf Club in Naples, Florida. Born and raised in Lexington, North Carolina, Aaron started playing golf at age 13 with his father and brother at various courses around the area. Aaron graduated from NC State University PGM program, and completed internships at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, Colorado Golf Club and MacGregor Downs Country Club. Aaron was elected class “A” PGA Member in January of 2015.
Jeff graduated from Ursinus College with a degree in English. He was also a member of the golf team for four years. Jeff enjoys cooking, reading and spending time with his three daughters and his wife Kate.
Mark is in his 11th season at PCC. Mark has a degree in Sports & Recreation from Temple University and is in charge of PCC’s fittings and golf club alterations. Mark has previously been named PING Clubfitter of the Year and is regarded as one of the best in the Philadelphia area. Outside of work, Mark enjoys cooking, traveling, music and fine wine.
Tom is a graduate of Bloomsburg University and is in his third stint working at PCC. Tom has been working in the golf industry since 1991, which includes working at Desert Mountain, Grayhawk GC, Huntindon Valley, and Philadelphia Country Club. Tom absolutely loves Philadelphia sports teams.
Ken Murray started working at PCC in early 2017 as the Outside Golf Operations Professional. Ken has extensive experience at many courses in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas including Bala Golf Club, RiverCrest Golf Club and Preserve, Bellewood Country Club, and Indian Valley Country Club. Ken played golf for Montgomery County Community College and Kutztown University, was a qualifier in the 1988 U.S. Mid-Am. and was a member at Phoenixville Country Club and Whitford Country Club. Ken enjoys watching sports including the Lehigh Valley Phantoms Hockey, Eagles, Flyers, and Phillies teams.
Glenn has been with PCC for 13 years and is now in charge of a variety of tournaments at St. Martins. Glenn has extensive experience in the golf industry, which includes working at Manufacturers’ Golf & CC, and Talamore GC. Glenn played golf for LaSalle University, and got his degree in Computer Science.
Bill started as a PGA Apprentice at PCC in 1985. Bill has also worked at Huntingdon Valley CC, Sunnybrook GC, and Talamore CC before returning to PCC in 2006 as a PGA A-1 Teaching Professional. Bill is married to his wonderful wife Dot, where they now reside in Warrington, PA. Bill’s biggest joy is seeing his children Billy, Katie & Jimmy benefit from the PCC caddy experience by learning some of life's greatest lessons. His favorite course remains our Wissahickon course.
John has been helping PCC Members grown and learn the game of golf since 2006. A PGA Member since 1999, John’s past experience in the golf industry includes working at Eagle lodge and Talamore before joining Cricket. John is married to his beautiful wife Kim, and has two children – Darby age 15 and JT age 17.
Mike graduated from Lock Haven University and joined the Marine Corps. He lives in Abington with his wife Laura. Any chance Mike gets, he loves riding his Harley’s, working around the house, talking football and playing golf.
Garry is entering his 3rd year at PCC. Originally from England, Garry has been in the US since 1996. Gary enjoys spending time with his 2 kids Madeline (14), Daniel (11) and his wife Lisa and can always be seen in his fan-favorite loud golf pants!
Chris will be in year five of his second work stint at PCC. Previously, Chris was an assistant professional at PCC from 2001-2010, and spent winters at Johns Island Club in Vero Beach, Florida. Chris enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter.
Dan Barbuto joined the culinary team at The Philadelphia Cricket Club after having worked at The Westchester Country Club in Rye, New York for four and half years. He has held positions as Banquet Sous Chef, Restaurant Sous Chef, Restaurant Chef and most recently Chef de Cuisine of Westchester’s Beach Club. Dan brings to the club over 20 years of experience in the food service industry in which he has worked in everything from high volume restaurants, to steakhouses, fine dining and sausage/meat companies. Dan is a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America, graduated with honors. Dan has other passions on top of his love for culinary which includes working on his classic car collection and helping plan for his wedding next year.
Chef Ben Burger has been at the helm of the PCC culinary team as Executive Chef since 2011. Prior to working at The Philadelphia Cricket Club, Chef Ben was the Executive Sous Chef at Piping Rock Club in Locust Valley, New York and Executive Chef at Tokeneke Club in Darien, Connecticut. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Jaclyn, daughter, Alyssa, son, Bryce, and the family dog Hamilton, aka “Hamburger.”
Amber Corp's smiling face was a fixture at the PCC front desk for five years. After spending time in the Food and Beverage departments at the Four Seasons and then Green Valley Country Club, Amber joined PCC as an office and communications manager before quickly being promoted to also oversee the club's member events. In the three years since, Amber has transformed the club's member events into a highlight of the PCC experience. From new events like Grapes on the Greens and the Kids Carnival to annual staples like Easter Brunch and the Pumpkin Patch, Amber is always keeping PCC members and their children entertained! Amber and her husband Steve have four children.
Taylor Ford joined the PCC Team in May 2017 as the Banquet Manager. Taylor earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management and Business from College of Charleston, which included six months studying in Spain. During college, she worked and interned at various venues and restaurants, where her passion for working in the hospitality industry grew. When she is away from PCC, Taylor enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and trying out local restaurants.
Holly Huntoon joined the PCC team in June 2016 as the Assistant Food & Beverage Manager. Holly studied Tourism and Event & Meeting Management with a focus in Club Management and a minor in Spanish at Niagara University in New York. Her college internships included time at The Country Club of Rochester, Rochester, New York and Colombia Country Club, Chevy Chase, Maryland. Part of her collegiate studies also included a semester abroad in Barcelona. Holly has been working in the hospitality industry since she was 15 years old and has a strong passion for bringing an excellent experience to the members she serves.
Terry Appel is the Assistant Equipment Manager in the Grounds Department at PCC. With education from SUNY Delhi in Turfgrass Management, John Deere Technical School and Toro Factory School, Terry brings a lot of experience to the PCC Grounds Team. Terry has worked in the turf industry since he was twelve years old. After college, his first job was at Merion Golf Club before deciding moving to work for McDonald and Sons Golf Course Builders. There, armed with turfgrass maintenance knowledge, he learned the construction and renovation aspect of golf courses. After gaining as much knowledge as he could, Terry traveled back to Merion to hone another skill; equipment maintenance. As an Assistant Equipment Manager, he found his calling. Three years later he became the Equipment Manager at Wannamoisett CC in Rhode Island. Six years later, he was ready to move back to Pennsylvania and has found a home here at the Philadelphia Cricket Club.
Jordan Caplan, St. Martins Superintendent, has been part of the Ground Crew for 5 years. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Crop and Soil Science at Michigan State University. Born in Toronto, Canada, he has made Philadelphia home with his wife and young daughter.
Craig Cassaday is the Equipment Manager in the Grounds Department at The Philadelphia Cricket Club and received his certificate from Nashville Auto Diesel College. He has been a part of the PCC Team for over five years and has experience working at two top 20 Clubs.
Matt Hermann, Assistant Superintendent, earned his Degree in Turfgrass Management from Pennsylavania State University. Matt had previously worked at Merion Golf Club, Club at Mediterra, Ocean Edge Resort, Eastward Ho! Country Club, and Cape Cod National Golf Club. He also had the honor of volunteering at the 2016 PGA Championship at Baltusrol Country Club. Growing up on Cape Cod, Matt learned to fish, kayak and hike and enjoys trying new foods.
Brian Kealy is an Assistant Superintendent at Militia Hill. Brian previously was the Assistant Superintendent at Piedmont Club in Haymarket, Virginia. He is an avid Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles, and Maryland Terrapins fan and enjoys playing golf in his free time.
Hunter Keech is the Assistant Superintendent at Wissahickon and received his degree from Pennsylvania State University in Turfgrass Management. Prior to working at The Philadelphia Cricket Club, Hunter worked as the Second Assistant at Round Hill Club in Greenwich, Connecticut. He enjoys hunting, fishing, playing golf, and cheering for the Nittany Lions!
Robb Moulds is the Wissahickon Superintendent at The Philadelphia Cricket Club. Before coming to PCC, he worked as an assistant at Hermitage Country Club and Gulph Mills Golf Club. Robb was fortunate to be involved with the award-winning restoration of Wissahickon course and oversaw movies and photos used for member updates during this time. Robb also had the pleasure of being in charge of, with Dan Meersman, tournament logistics for both the PGA of America’s Professional National Championship and the PGA TOUR CHAMPIONS Tour Constellation Senior Players Championship, when held at the Philadelphia Cricket Club. Robb loves to hike and has traveled to over 20 US National Parks with his wife and children. He also enjoying watching sports and cheering on Liverpool FC and the Penn State Nittany Lions.
Alexandra Reynolds is the Landscape Superintendent and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from Michigan State University. Alex’s passion for spending time on the golf course started early. Growing up, Alex worked on the Grounds Crew in the mornings and then caddied in the late morning or afternoon at the same course for nine summers. After graduating college, she worked with a golf course construction company. She then took a position on the Nursery Crew at Augusta National. After over two years, she transitioned into the role of Project Coordinator in the Club’s Campus Development Department and did project and landscape planning for all of the Club’s projects. New to the PCC team, she is excited to learn new things at the Philadelphia Cricket Club and to use her past experiences to plan and execute Club projects and landscape.
Patricia Tobon is the Office Administrator for the Grounds Department at The Philadelphia Cricket Club and has been with PCC for over 5 years. Born in Colombia, South America, Patricia moved to the United States and received her Bachelor’s Degree from La Salle University in Business Administration and a Certificate in Project Management from Penn State Abington. Patricia enjoys cooking family meals for her family and spending time with her five grandchildren.
