Tennis

With 18 grass courts and nine fast-dry har-Tru courts (with lights to accommodate night play), as well as two indoor courts to accommodate winter play, members of The Philadelphia Cricket Club enjoy a variety of tennis surfaces year-round. Tennis players enjoy a Pavilion with an indoor/outdoor fireplace, two outdoor decks, and comfortable inside seating areas to complement a fully stocked bar.

The Club participates in men's and women's interclub leagues and offers a variety of organized team practices, clinics and private lessons. Friday night socials are scheduled throughout the season, and Club tournaments include men's, women's and mixed championships on both the har-Tru and grass courts. The Club offers a QuickStart junior tennis program, with a smaller court and low-compression balls, for those learning the sport, as well as private instruction, clinics, a summer tennis academy, and interclub competition for more accomplished juniors.

Platform Tennis

Platform tennis is one of the fastest growing sports at The Philadelphia Cricket Club, likely due to both its social nature and the ease with which beginners can pick up the sport. Platform Tennis is a winter sport and offers members an opportunity to exercise and socialize outdoors during the colder months. The Club’s newly renovated platform tennis facility includes seven courts, all lit for night play, and a Pavilion with an indoor/outdoor fireplace, two outdoor decks, a lower viewing area, and comfortable inside seating areas to complement a fully stocked bar.

In addition to men’s and women’s interclub leagues and organized practices, clinics and private lessons are offered day and night, and Friday night socials are scheduled throughout the season. Club tournaments include men’s, women’s and mixed championships. The Club also offers weekly junior clinics and coaches juniors to participate in Club tournaments, the Junior Philly Open and APTA Junior Nationals.

Pickleball

Pickleball players can enjoy play on four beautifully landscaped outdoor courts that are lit for evening play, as well as indoor courts during the winter months.

The Club offers a variety of clinics and private lessons for every level player. The comprehensive program includes opportunities for adults and juniors including socials, instruction, intraclub play, interclub play, Club Championships, Member-Guest events, and open play.

Padel

The newest sport can now be found at the oldest club. The Philadelphia Cricket Club (PCC), founded in 1854, is the oldest country club in America. Since their inception, PCC has been a leader in the private club industry thanks to a longstanding tradition of forward thinking. As of their courts’ Grand Opening on Saturday, May 6, 2023, PCC became the first country club in the Philadelphia area to build their own padel courts.

Padel is said to be the fastest-growing sport in the world. There are approximately 400 padel courts in the U.S. with the prediction of 10,000 courts by 2030. This sport is a blend of everyone’s favorite aspects of tennis, squash, pickleball and all other racquet sports. For beginners, padel is easy to learn, making it a social hit at PCC. For seasoned racquets players, including some professionals who are members of the Club, padel presents an exciting challenge to achieve mastery of a new sport.
