PCC completed a significant renovation of its paddle tennis facility in November 2013 and boasts four courts, all lit for night play, and a brand new Pavilion with an indoor/outdoor fireplace, two outdoor decks, and comfortable inside seating areas to complement a fully stocked bar. The Cricket Club’s new Pavilion was recently featured as the “Hut of the Month” in Platform Tennis Magazine.
Paddle is one of the fastest growing sports at the Club, likely due to both its social nature and the ease with which beginners can pick up the sport. The Club prides itself on having an active, fun paddle tennis program and participates in men’s and women’s interclub leagues. In fact, the Club fielded six men’s teams and six women’s teams in the 2014/15 paddle season, with four teams winning their division. In addition, organized practices, clinics and private lessons are offered day and night, and Friday night socials are scheduled throughout the season with food and beverages. Club tournaments include men’s, women’s and mixed championships. With heated courts, paddle is a winter sport and provides a great way to exercise and socialize outdoors during the colder months.
PCC’s junior paddle program offers children a great chance to get outside, exercise, compete and learn the sport. PCC offers regular weekly junior clinics during the season and encourages juniors to participate in Club tournaments, the Junior Philly Open and APTA Junior Nationals.
